Pure Strike is an instructional DVD set produced by Medicus Golf (creator of the Medicus Dual-Hinge Driver and other popular golf training aids).
It is advertised on TV as revolutionizing the way the golf swing is taught, so we decided to test it out here at GolferReviews.org!
Pure Strike consists of 5 DVDs featuring Bob Koch, Chuck Evans, and Dave Wedzik – 3 well respected teaching professionals.
The program centers on the so called “5 Swing Keys” – the 5 things all great golfers have in common. They are:
- Steady head
- Weight forward at impact
- Flat left wrist at impact
- Diagonal sweet spot path (swing plane)
- Clubface control
The video footage totals a little over 2 hours and includes:
- An overview of the 5 swing keys
- Basics about the setup and grip
- Drills to work on each of the 5 keys
- How to increase your swing speed
- Lessons with average golfers working on the Pure Strike system
How Pure Strike Performed
The Pure Strike program focuses on 5 fundamental “swing keys” that all golfers can incorporate in their game.
We tested it with golfers of varying skill levels and found everyone was able to come away with a specific swing thought or drill to apply directly to their game.
On the positive side, the swing keys are general enough that golfers of all shapes and sizes can benefit. It doesn’t force everyone into the same swing, but allows room to work within your physical capabilities.
On the downside, Pure Strike focuses solely on the standard full swing. Unlike other programs, you won’t learn how to adjust for different course conditions.
Price:
The program sells for $99.75, which is more expensive than many comparable products.
One word of caution… We think Medicus is an honest company that creates high quality products, but if you google “Medicus golf billing” or similar you will see numerous reports of confusing billing from the company.
When we purchased our test copy, in addition to receiving the DVDs we were automatically enrolled in 2 separate, monthly memberships that bill at $19.95 a month each. We were also offered a Medicus Dual-Hinge Driver for a trial price of $1 that bills in full 30 days later.
The DVDs themselves also bill at $19.95 for 5 months. All of this is fully disclosed, but with all of the separate billings we can see how it would be easy to get confused about what you are paying for.
Again, we think Medicus is an honest company. But make sure you understand what you are buying!
Pros:
- Sound, fundamental instruction that is appropriate for all golfers
- Features highly respected instructors
Cons:
- More expensive than comparable products
- Not as comprehensive as some of the other video programs
- Billing can be confusing
The Bottom Line:
The Pure Strike DVD System is a good way to build a solid foundation to your swing. At $100 it is more expensive and less comprehensive than some of the other options.

Doug, please see my response to Tom above… You will need to contact the vendor who placed these charges directly. I do not know which website you are referring to regarding the 50 questions but it is definitely not golferreviews. We do not sell anything and we do not take credit card information anywhere on the site.
My husband did the same thing. I’ve been on hold with them for over 30min now. did you get your situation rectified?
Why did I get a charge on my credit card from Pure Strike when
I never ordered anything. Please issue me a credit, and how did
you get my credit card number?
This is the website you need to complain to: http://kickxgolf.com/tourz-golf-balls.php
I’ve had to cancel 2 credit card for those jokers. They’re just piggy backing off a legitimate sites name.
Evidently KICKX is automatically sending out a dozen golf balls every month after the first sleeve. How insane is that. You really got to watch some of these companies behind the scenes. I had a TON of trouble with Medicus charging my credit cards for shady charges I was getting from their devious small print website, and they didn’t make it easy to get a refund either. Low rent stuff. . I finally had to call my State Attorney General to get a refund, and they did. Shady stuff that can give people a bad name. If you can’t get the situation resolve you State Attorney General can usually help.
